When Sol began walking around Dienen, the first thing he noticed was that, unlike in the original story, many people in the town still seemed poor. In the original story, Celes had returned to a life of wealth thanks to the reward she had received. However, although the town was not quite as gloomy as it had been when it was affected by miasma, it lacked vitality.

Sol and his companions walked through the town and stopped in front of a mansion. This was Celes’ mansion, which Sol had seen many times in the game. It was supposed to be small because she was a minor noble, but to Sol, who had only ever lived in ordinary houses, it was a mansion.

When the gatekeeper in front of the mansion saw Celes, he opened the door without saying a word. For some reason, the gatekeeper looked relieved when he saw Celes.

Sol and the others were immediately shown into the guest room by an elderly man who looked like a butler. The butler also shed tears of relief the moment he saw Celes.

Celes was welcomed by everyone, and even from Sol’s perspective, there seemed to be nothing for Celes to worry about.

“Celes…!”

The door opened with a bang. Entering were a slightly overweight middle-aged man and a beautifully dressed woman. They were probably Celes’s father and mother.

“Are you all right…!”

“We were worried because we hadn’t heard from you…”

“…I’m sorry.”

“You don’t have to apologize! The most important thing is that you came back safely!”

With that, Celes’s father gently patted her on the shoulder.

Ah, what was that? There was nothing to worry about. That’s what Sol thought. What was Celes worried about in the first place?

Just as Sol was thinking that,

“…Gohon. By the way, um. I’m sorry to bring this up now, but when will the reward money from the country be…”

“I’m sorry. I spent it all.”

“…Huh?”

For a moment, the air in the room froze. No one, not even Sol, could understand what Celes meant. After all, Celes’s purpose for going on this journey was to enrich the lives of the poor people of this house and the people of the domain.

Suddenly, there was a sound of something being hit. It was the sound of Celes’s father slapping her cheek.

“What is this…?! What did you spend it on…?”

“…It doesn’t matter. It’s money I earned.”

“Of course it matters! Why do you think I gave you permission? I should have just married you off to some rich man!”

Next to Celes’ father, who was shouting, Celes’ mother rushed over to Celes.

“Tell me why you did such a thing. You understood the situation of this family better than anyone else. So why…?”

“Then what have you done for this family, Mother?”

Celes glared at her mother.

“You didn’t have that dress when I left, did you?”

“I couldn’t help it… Unlike you, Celes, I can’t sew…”

“As for Silen, she has a lot of new accessories now.”

“Unlike you, she’s selfish and doesn’t listen to me no matter what I say… I’m exhausted…”

Celes sighed at her mother’s words. Then she looked at her father.

“Father, even though you say you don’t have any money, you’ve gained weight again. Everyone in town is thin because they don’t have enough to eat.”

“It can’t be helped! We relied on you to cook for this family, so we didn’t hire a cook! If we try to buy cheap food, it ends up being unhealthy!”

“…No one is willing to work hard to replace me if I leave. That’s why I didn’t feel like spending money on you guys.”

With that, Celes looked away from her family. However, Celes’ father continued to glare at her.

“Why are you saying such terrible things! Family members should help each other! Besides, I’m the one who usually earns the money! So we’re even! Why are you suddenly saying such cold things! Don’t tell me those guys you’re traveling with have put you up to this!”

Celes’s father glared at each of the three people behind Celes. Then, for some reason, his gaze stopped on Sol.

“You! Did you put ideas into Celes’ head?”

“…Huh?”

“Don’t play dumb! The thing in your waist pocket…”

“Sol has nothing to do with this. Don’t say anything unnecessary.”

With that, Celes stood up to protect Sol.

“If you say anything else, I don’t know what I’ll do. You don’t want to get hurt, do you?”

“What… I shouldn’t have let you learn sword fighting… You said you wanted to protect the town…”

Celes looked away from her father, who was muttering to himself, and looked at Lepios and Carla while holding Sol’s hand.

“…I’m sorry, everyone. Let’s leave this house.”

The two nodded at Celes’ words. Celes’ hand, which was holding Sol’s, was still trembling.

Celes then asked the butler who was nearby to show them outside. As they walked down the hallway, Celes said something to the butler so that only he could hear. Upon hearing this, the butler bowed deeply to Celes with tears in his eyes.
