Since it became a topic of conversation last week with Ageha, I was often glanced at for a while since Monday, but the rumors gradually began to decrease after it was understood that the distance between me and Ageha was not much closer than the rumors said. One of the reasons for this was probably the fact that Hanaten and Yuisa were never alone with Ageha when we ate lunch.
Hanaten was initially dismayed when he heard the Friday rumors during club activities, but after I explained to him how I felt about it from one to ten every recess, he showed me that he was convinced that he could forgive me now.
Hanaten, Ageha, Yuisa, and I gathered together and spread out the lunch boxes we had prepared. Hanaten’s lunch box was the largest. Before the club activities, this is not enough, so he eats additional pastries. That’s what I’d expect from him.
Yuisa opens her mouth soon after the peaceful Thursday lunchtime begins.
“I went to a part-time job yesterday. It’s a part-time job at a coffee shop.”
“Oh, well, you said you went there yesterday for lunch because it was your first job today.
“Yesyes”
“How did it go?”
Me and Ageha knew the atmosphere of the coffee shop itself, but Ageha seemed to be curious about what the part-time job entailed, and Hanaten was curious because he did not know where she was working. Yuisa also accumulated an aura of wanting to talk, and she was all smiles and peace.
“It was a lot of fun. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to take orders well as a part-timer, but the manager was nice and it was a lot of fun!”
“I’m glad.”
“Hohou, I’ll go to the coffee shop too.”
“Come on in! I’m always happy to have customers who drop money! I’m friendly even to student’s wallets! If you stay too long, I’ll have to kick you out.”
“Hey, hey, give me a little extra.”
“I just started working here. I can’t give you a little extra!”
“Well, that’s true, but isn’t this a well-known chain?”
“Well, yeah, I guess so. It was more like an adult place, wasn’t it?”
“What’s that? Let’s see a picture, a picture.”
“O-okay, o-okay! Here, here, here~”
Yuisa pulls out her phone and shows a selfie of herself in her coffee shop part-time job outfit that she posted on Instagram. It is too much processed with glittery stamps and other things, and the atmosphere of the coffee shop is completely different.
I laugh and take out my phone to show her the photo.
It’s a picture I was allowed to take on Saturday. There are pictures on restaurant review sites, but I took the picture to explain what kind of restaurant it was in order to ask my parents for permission to work there. I did not get it from Manager Marumiya, but I guess that’s the nature of photography as a hobby.
“This is the kind of restaurant.”
“Yuisa-chan, isn’t it totally different!”
“You just put a little glitter on it to put it on your Instagram~~”
“Compare these two pictures and find someone who says it’s the same store!”
“Hanaten, look closely? The cups are the same. It’s the same store!”
“If Yuisa chan says it, it doesn’t mean anything!”
“Fufu, Yuisan san’s picture looks like a coffee shop decorated with Christmas lights.”
“Yuisa san, please post photos of your part-time job on your Instagram that won’t cause misunderstandings.”
“Hisa-kun, you’re terrible too!?”
Hanaten looked at the screen of his phone and said it would be a good date and asked if he could look at the other pictures. I answer, “No problem,” and hand him my phone.
Yuisa looked at my phone and said, “It’s so different from my picture!” I was laughing at her,
“Eh?”
Yuisa-san’s voice was puzzled, and her hand stopped operating, and she looked disappointed. I wondered what was wrong. Yuisa-san took the phone from Hanaten’s hand and showed the screen to me and Ageha as if she was worried.
“Ah”
“Aaah”
Ageha shouted in surprise and I shouted in agreement. Ageha stared at the picture of herself on the screen of her phone. It was the picture I had taken when we met on Sunday.
I told Yuisa san, who was only moving her mouth and not saying a word, what I had seen. Yuisa-san sounded confused and flustered. Ageha kept saying, “Um, um, um,” as if she didn’t know what to say to explain.
“It’s a picture of Ageha drinking tea in a coffee shop.”
“WWW-What do you mean?!”
“Um, um…”
“You went around the downtown area with Yuisa-san on Saturday, right? On Sunday, there was a lot of talk about coffee shops, so I went to explain it to Ageha. Manager Marumiya was at the coffee shop on Sunday too, probably helping out.”
“So, so-and-so, you mean that’s what happened!
I was not sure what she meant by that, so I nodded my head. I looked at Hanaten, who was smiling and chomping down on a huge side dish from his lunch box, but his chopsticks didn’t stop moving and he kept shoveling more and more rice into his mouth without a pause.
“I went out with Yuisa san on Saturday, and I also went out with Ageha because we are friends.”
“Y-Yes. I just happened to be curious about the coffee shop where you two work part-time.”
“II see. I was so surprised.”
“I was just wondering about your friend.”
“As for me, I would be happy if Ageha would contribute to the sales of the coffee shop where he works.”
“M-me?! B-but I can’t think of anyone who would go with me.”
Yuisa-san hugs Ageha with moist eyes as she looks depressed and says sad things. The heavy air that had covered the classroom for just a moment disappeared.
“I’ll go with you!”
“No, if you want to go, it would be on your day off, and Yuisa-san is working part-time, isn’t she?”
“It doesn’t matter!”
“It’s relevant…..”
The two of them are having a hard time answering each other’s questions about whether or not they are related or not. When I ask them what’s wrong or what I did wrong, they reply that it ain’t nothing.
Eventually, by the time lunch break was over, Ageha had promised to go to the coffee shop with Yuisa san and to hang out with her.
Everyone returns to their seats and I smile at Ageha, who has taken the seat in front of me. Ageha turned around and looked embarrassed, but seemed happy that Yuisa san had pulled her out of her hesitant state and made a promise to her.
“Good for you, Ageha.”
“Mouu…, but I’m looking forward to the time when I can go play with my friends.”
