“I knew this was the best !”

I picked up a highly carbonated energy drink at a convenience store.

I somehow think that drinking this during a game will help me concentrate better.

I then bought some other snacks that I could eat without getting my hands dirty and left the convenience store.

“It’s summer, so it’s still light out at this hour.”

It was getting dark, but just as I was thinking that, I saw something shocking.

“Is that Mitsuki san?”

The profile that I saw for a moment, though a little far away, was….surely Mitsuki san.

“W-why is Mitsuki san  together with a guy…..”

Mitsuki san was walking hand in hand with the guy she was walking with, looking like they were really close.

“What’s going on….I didn’t hear anything about a guy being there…….”

I don’t know who the guy is because I’m not in a position where I can see his face, but there’s no doubt that they seem close.

Kanata….that can’t be possible.

The man has dark hair and Kanata has a girlfriend, so there’s no way he would walk around holding hands with another woman……

“Then who the hell is he !”

No……let’s calm down for once.

It’s too early to assume that that guy is her boyfriend.

He could be her father or a relative……and there’s also the possibility that she has a brother that I haven’t heard about.

I’ve never even heard of her having a boyfriend before, so that’s more likely.

 “Ha ! Where are they !?”

As I was thinking that, Mitsuki san was already gone.

“Damn it ! I should ‘ve followed her and at least seen the guy’s face……”

I thought it was unlikely that he was her boyfriend, but just in case, I should ask Akari, who seemed to know.

I thought so and went home.

“Eh? What’s wrong, Nii-san? You’re speaking so loudly…”

When I arrived home, I immediately spoke to Akari.

“I have something I’d like to ask you, is that okay?”

“Yes, I guess.”

I asked, but I wasn’t sure what to say.

Is it okay to ask directly if Mitsuki san has a boyfriend?

That makes it sound like I like Mitsuki san…….no, actually I do, but I don’t want Akari to know…….

“Erm…does Mitsuki san have any siblings? An older brother or something?”

“Eh? Mitsuki san……no, she doesn’t. Why’d you ask?”

“T-then, do you know what Mitsuki san was doing today? Kanata said he invited her to hang out, but she didn’t come.”

Naturally, this was a lie, but I thought of it on the spur of the moment, so I said this.

When I said that, Akari thought about something for a minute and then said.

“If it’s Mitsuki san……she said she was going shopping with her father today for the first time in a while. She also turned down the invitation from Yui san and me as well.”

　

I couldn’t see his face, but it was her father !?

So that’s what it is ! I’m sure it makes sense when they’re holding hands then !

I mean, there was no way Mitsuki san had a boyfriend, there was no sign of a man at all.

I muttered, relieved at that thought.

“SO it was her father……”

“What’s wrong?”

“No ! Nothing ! I’m gonna go play a game with my friends.”

“Okay.”

So I went back to my room.

“What the…..so it was her father.”

I thought about that possibility, but I have to admit I didn’t stop being nervous until I actually heard it.

Although not as much as Yui and Akari, I think Mitsuki is cute and I like her, so I would have been shocked if that was her boyfriend.

I was actually going to ask Kanata about it, but I guess it’s safe now.

“Okay ! Now that I’m refreshed, let’s play a game !”

“So I guess it happens.”

I was wondering what was wrong with my brother when he came to talk to me in such a hurry, but I never thought he would ask me such a question…….

Mitsuki san said she was going to see a movie with Shindo senpai today..

“I hope everything was alright.”

From what my brother saw, he was probably able to recognize Mitsuki san, but he couldn’t recognize Shindo senpai.

Because if he could, he would have been even more angry……it would have been the case if my brother had been dealing with Shindo senpai, right?

Thinking so, I immediately told him that it was her father, but I guess it turned out to be a good thing.

I think it’s a good thing that I said it as soon as I thought of it.

Well, it doesn’t matter anymore…..because even if that’s the case, Mitsuki san’s heart is already completely commited to Shindo senpai.

“By the way, Mitsuki san has started going out with Shindo senpai….”

I heard this over the phone, but at the time, Shindo senpai and Mitsuki san were on a date and seemed to be having a lot of fun together.

“Congratulations, Mitsuki san, Shindo senpai…I have to do my best too.”

I don’t know when it will be, but I’ll do my best anyway.

I hope I can do it during the summer vacation……

It’s funny how when you go on a date with someone you like, you have to watch out for other eyes.

Well, Yui san said to keep it a secret until at least Mitsuki san and I started dating Shindo senpai, so I have to be careful too.

[But it’s definitely not okay to not be able to have fun because of that, right?]

[Of course I understand that.]

[Right.]

We all talked for a bit after that and then we ended our conversation.
