The test results were returned and we were at our usual family restaurant, laying out the test papers on the table.

In front of me was a nervous-looking Reisa.

On the other hand, Nagisa was staring at her Modern Japanese and Classics answer sheets next to me.

And I was also looking at Reisa’s math answer sheets.

“Great. You’ve done all the parts I taught you.“

”Right !? Isn’t it great !? I was the kind of girl who could do it if I tried. You can praise me more ! Nihihi.”

”Yeah, well, you can’t do everything else at all.“

”Can you please stop dropping me after you praise me?”

Reisa averaged about 58 points in her five subjects.

The average score for the five subjects is about 58.

Although the overall difficulty level was high this time, the average score itself was surprisingly high, so we cannot say that the results are satisfactory.

This is because a large percentage of the questions were basic questions.

Since no one loses points in this area, there isn’t much difference except for the higher level applied questions.

The reason why there was a big gap between me, Nagisa, and Takagi, and the rest was due to this perfect balance of test preparation.

And because it was just the basic problems that I taught Reisa, she miraculously meshed with them and her score improved.

Pointing to the blank final question on Reisa’s math answer sheet, I said.

“For some reason there were fewer this time, but usually there is one more big question at this level. And this is where Reisa san left all the questions blank. ……Just to be clear, you didn’t make it in time?”

“Nope. I just didn’t understand anything.”

“Then it’s not good to be too happy about it …..No, well, the fact that almost everything I taught you is correct is the result of your studies. I think it’s honestly amazing.”

I’ve learned the art of delicacy, so I gave her a proper, but sincere, compliment at the end.

Then, Reisa’s expression brightens in an amusing way.

“Right !? Haa~, it’s nice to be praised by the top student in the grade~”

“But then why have you been doing things like failing the exams up until now? You could have done it if you studied.”

“Oi. I didn’t get red marks because I liked it. What’s with that nickname !?”

I couldn’t help but burst out at Reisa, who was busy getting happy and angry at the same time.

Then Nagisa placed the print down and spoke.

“Edano san’s teaching style was very good. I also successfully improved my English grade. ….It was the first time in my life that I got close to 90%.”

“No, I didn’t do much of anything. You two just worked hard, right?”

Because yeah, I know.

No matter how much you teach, those who don’t want to do it won’t do it and won’t learn it.

No matter how many measures I take, if the person is not willing to do it, it is meaningless.

The woman who seemed to have placed last this time proved it all along.

Embarrassed because I was being too nice to her, I scratched my cheek and drank a cup of iced coffee.

The bitterness was somehow unfamiliar to me, and I was deeply moved.

I’ve been sleeping well lately, and come to think of it, I’ve had fewer opportunities to consume caffeine.

I used to drink caffeine every day at home because I was studying so much that I had to cut back on sleep.

While I was thinking about this, Reisa asked me.

“I mean, study sessions are fine, but aren’t there any normal after-parties?”

“What’s that?“

”No, we often do that after tests, don’t we? Everyone goes out to eat or karaoke saying ‘great work’.”

“Beats me.”

I asked Nagisa about what Reisa said, but she just tilted her head in confusion just like me.

That’s right.

I don’t know of any such social gatherings.

I had no friends to invite me in the first place, and it’s no wonder.

As the atmosphere becomes awkward, Reisa begins to get anxious.

“Well, there are people like that, you know.”

It seems that we are an irregular race, judging from this reaction.

After all, studying is a solitary thing.

To tell the truth, even now that we are gathering like this to redo the test, it’s quite enjoyable for me.

But at least Reisa is not like that.

Certainly, unless you are a diligent student, you probably don’t feel any pleasure in studying.

“Let’s do it then, party.”

At Nagisa’s words, Reisa widens her eyes.

“You sure? Why don’t you use this precious time to have fun instead of studying?”

”……I was just interested in that kind of thing, too.“

”What about Tsukuchi?”

“Well, that’s fine, I guess?”

Personally, I felt rather positive about it.

To be honest, even if I were given free time now, I didn’t feel like I would be able to study properly because I was still feeling the afterglow of the test.

After the test, I would always list the questions I got wrong and think to myself, “If I had gotten this part right, I would have gotten an average score of XX” or some such nonsense.

I’d rather switch over and play than spend time on such things.

Also, as I found out from this test, I think that talking to other people and having a good time every day reduces the mental load.

This time I was able to solve it really surprisingly calmly.

Besides, and this is the main reason, I’d like to party with my friends too.

It wouldn’t hurt to have fun for a day or so, and it would give me a nice break so I could focus again afterwards.

In response to my reply, Reisa leaned forward with a dazzling smile.

“So what should we do? Dinner? Karaoke? Ah, or go somewhere? Like Round One !”

“I-I don’t know. I have no experience.“

“That’s right. Even if I’m asked, you don’t know.”

“That’s right… Fufu, I remember when I was solving the crossword puzzle by myself during recess in elementary school and my teacher got worried about me.”

“Oh, I know what you mean. When I was in middle school, I used to read books all through my lunch break, and my teacher had to give me mental health support.”

“Hey, don’t get all sadly enthusiastic ! Just remember from now on ! I’ll teach you lots of fun things !”

I don’t know about Nagisa’s house, but I don’t have any entertainment at home.

These days, other than watching anime or dramas while eating, I occasionally kill time by watching YouTube.

The only other thing I do is read manga and novels on rare occasions.

In any case, I don’t play outside.

As Reisa thought about it, thinking it was neither this nor that, Nagisa and I looked at each other and laughed.
