“Yuito, look, look. It looks so much like Kyoto outside the window.”

“I know, I’ll take a picture since we’re here.”

It seems that quite a long time had passed while I was doing psychological tests and chatting with Kano san. The five-story pagoda was visible from the window of the Shinkansen as it began to slow down just before Kyoto Station.

“After we get off the Shinkansen, there’s a place in the station building that I want to go to.”

“Was there anything interesting in the station building?”

“I wanted to see a monument called [Departure Prier] in the station building.”

“Well, since we’re here, let’s go there.”

I couldn’t imagine what kind of monument it was just by hearing the name, but since Kano san went out of her way to see it, I’m sure it must be something that would look nice.

We arrived at Kyoto station a little later and got off the Shinkansen. Kyoto station was crowded as well as Tokyo station because of the summer vacation.

“Kyoto Station has a glass ceiling.”

“By the way, I heard that the ceiling was inspired by the street network of Heian-kyo.”

“Wow, they really put a lot of thought into it.”

“Then let’s go to the starting Prier, which should be in the east plaza.”

Then we started walking together toward the East Plaza. At Tokyo Station, most of the people walking around the station spoke in standard Japanese. But here in Kyoto, all I could hear was Kansai dialect.

“……Intonation is totally different from standard Japanese, so I feel tremendous discomfort.”

“There are quite a few students from the Kansai region at Waseda University, so I hear a fair amount of Kansai dialect, I don’t think it bothers me too much. Yuito will hear a lot of different dialects once he enrolls, so I think he’ll get used to it quickly.”

“Entering university is still a long way off, and with my current grades, I don’t even know if I’ll be able to get into Waseda.”

I responded to Kano san, who was talking on the premise that I would enroll at Waseda University. Kano san smiled at me and opened her mouth.

“Don’t worry, I’ll get you in.”

“What method do you intend to use……?”

“I guess it wouldn’t be difficult if I really supported Yuito by being there with him.”

I was bracing myself for what kind of outrageous statement she was going to make, but what Kano san was saying was surprisingly decent.

“However, it would be a waste of time for me to go to Yuito’s house or have you come over, so in order to make things more efficient, I would like you to live with me.”

“……Yeah, that wasn’t decent at all.”

“Eh, I think that’s a great idea.”

As we were walking together, we started to see a large bell-shaped monument.

“Is that the starting plie, by any chance?”

“Yes, by the way, Prier means [to pray] in French. It is a bell to bless two people who are getting married.”

“I see. So that’s why there are so many couples here.”

In front of the departure Prier, several couples were taking selfies with each other.

“Since we’re here, why don’t we take a picture in front of the departure Prier too?”

“Won’t the people around us misunderstand……?”

“You don’t want that?”

While saying that, Kano san looks into my eyes. The height difference between us is only 4 centimeters, so our normal eye level is almost the same.

However, Kano san was in a slightly bent over position, so her eyes were completely looking up at me. The destructive power of Kano san’s normally unseen upward gaze was just too great.

“I-I don’t mind.”

“I knew Yuito would say so.”

Just like that, Kano san sticks close to me and starts taking pictures using her smartphone’s front camera with the departing Prier in the background. The way Kano san and I look now, we definitely look like a couple.

“Speaking of which, aren’t we not allowed to ring the bells here?”

“I was wondering that too, but I guess not.”

“Oh, that’s true.”

Kano san pointed to a sign in English and Japanese that asked visitors not to ring the bells without permission.

“I’m a little disappointed because I wanted to ring the bell.”

“Hey, so you wanted to ring it that bad. Are you perhaps proposing in a roundabout way?”

“No, no, no. You know I’m the type of person who always wants to ring when I see a shrine bell.”

That’s what I was trying to explain to Kano san, who started saying unreasonable things, but I didn’t feel bad about it. In fact, I thought it would be fun if I could become a couple with Kano san, even though it’s still early.

Perhaps I do like Kano san. While having such feelings for Kano san, I have been questioning myself.

I’ve been thinking about it for a while now, but I feel that my feelings for Kano san and my feelings for Suzuno are definitely different.

“What’s wrong with your sudden silence?”

“……Ah, sorry.”

I was completely absorbed in my own world when Kano san’s voice brought me back to myself. The question has been stuck in my head for a long time, so I’m curious about it, but I’m in the middle of having a good time with Kano san, so I’ll try not to think about it for a while.
