A few days have passed since the open campus at Waseda University, and finally this year’s summer vacation is less than halfway through. Since I will be a student preparing for the entrance examination next year, I cannot take it easy like I did this year.
By the way, my brother has obviously been depressed since the open campus, and more unfortunately, he even caught a summer cold and has been completely down since then. My mother is taking care of him now.
“With Ayato in that state and you having to go on an urgent trip, it’s going to be difficult to visit your mothers’ house with the family this year.”

I said to myself as I listened to my mother and father’s conversation during dinner. Every year around this time in August, the four of us go to Mom’s parents’ house in Kyoto, but it seems that this year, various things have come together to make it difficult.
My brother, who is sick with a summer cold, can’t go, and Mom is stuck there nursing him. Dad can’t refuse to go on a business trip, and if he can’t make it, I’m the only one who can. Dad opened his mouth to say that he was disappointed because he was looking forward to it.
“It would be bad for Mother and Father-in-law if no one goes, so why don’t you go at least?”
“I’m sure they’re both looking forward to seeing their grandchild, so why don’t you just go?”

I decided to accept their suggestion and said yes. I felt a little lonely on the way there alone, but I had never been away from home by myself before, so it would be a good experience.
After dinner, I went back to my room and started working on my summer vacation project. I’ve been planning to do it so I should be able to finish it by the last day, but I need to finish it as soon as possible considering that I have a test after the summer break.

Kano san suddenly said something like that right out of the blue, and I replied, a little taken aback. Then, Kano san’s tone became a little dissatisfied.
“Heh, so Yuito is talking to me like that. If you’re too cold, I might accidentally tell Suzuno that you have a stash of erotic manga about childhood friend.”

“Yuito would probably feel lonely going alone, so I’ll go with you.”
“No, no, no, you said the other day that you have plans to hang out with your friends tomorrow, didn’t you?”
“Yeah, I already sent them a message on LIME and canceled it.”

I think it’s too hasty to cancel plans when I haven’t even agreed yet.
“Then I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Kano san hung up the phone after saying only what she wanted to say. Even on the Shinkansen, it takes quite a while to travel from Tokyo to Kyoto, so I’m planning to stay overnight, but I wonder if Kano san knows about that.
“Well, I guess it’s a little late for a sleepover.”
I stayed with Kano san during Hakone and the group date, so I don’t think it will be much different between the second or third time.
“I’m sure Mom wouldn’t object if I told her.”
In my mother’s case, she has a criminal record for calmly allowing me and Kano san to stay overnight during our trip to Hakone, so I can only see a future in which she asks us to go together this time as well.
I wonder if she realizes that if I’m not careful, I may end up climbing the ladder of adulthood with Kano san. Thinking about this, I resumed my summer vacation project that I had almost finished.
