A few days had passed since the day I went to the theater with Kano san, and now it was Friday. Today is the week before the test, so students are not allowed to enter the staff room and after-school club activities are also suspended.

“This final exam has some subjects that are going to be difficult, so I have to study really hard.”

“Well, if you get a red point by any chance, it will be a hassle later.”

“Kenji and Sho are always saying the same thing.”

“Well, unlike me and Yuito, Kenji and Sho always barely made it.”

Homeroom was over, and now it was after school, and I was chatting with the three of them at the back of the classroom. Kenji and Sho regularly get red marks compared to me and Kaito who have good grades.

“I’m having trouble with basic physics and Kenji is having trouble with Math B, please help us.”

“Just like this.”

“If the two of you show sincerity, I might consider it.”

I said that with a smile to Kenji and Sho, who looked at me as if they were pleading. Teaching them to study is quite difficult, so it would be nice to get something in return.

“…Yuito is surprisingly sadistic.”

“Perhaps you used that kind of gap moe to make Yuuki san’s sister fall in love with you….?”

“We’d like to use that as a reference too, so tell us more about it.”

“Hey, don’t come at me with those glaring eyes.”

I exclaimed, feeling a little scared. I mean, all three of them are normally popular. After exchanging such jokes, I said goodbye to the three of them and started heading to the library.

I study for tests in the school library because I can’t concentrate at home. Kano san knows this, so she probably won’t be there today.

After entering the library and taking a seat, I pull out my Math 2B problem book, notebook, and writing utensils from my backpack and begin to work through the material for this test.

Since I had understood most of the basics in class, I was able to solve the easy problems without any difficulty. I did not encounter any particular difficulties with the applied problems, so I was doing relatively well.

As I concentrated on the problems for a while, the time passed rapidly, and before I knew it, it was almost time for me to leave for the last day of school. I got up from my seat, packed my backpack, changed into my shoes at the shoe box, and started walking home.

I was about to go home, but I wanted to get a new book to prepare for the test, so I changed direction and went to a bookstore.

It is a rather large bookstore in town, so the selection is quite extensive. As I am browsing the area where reference books and problem books are kept, I’m suddenly approached from behind.

“Yuito?”

“Hm, Kano san. It’s rare to see you here.”

“Actually, I’m planning on going on a group date right now.”

Kano san looked depressed as she said this. Judging from her appearance, Kano san probably isn’t too keen on it.

I personally don’t want her to participate in the group date. I was bothered when I imagined Kano san talking happily at the party.

While I was chatting with her, a beautiful, cool-looking woman with long black hair suddenly started talking to Kano san.

“Hey, Kano.”

“Ah, good evening, Mayo san.”

“G-good evening.

I figured that she was probably an acquaintance of Kano san, so I greeted her even though I was nervous. There’s no harm in getting along with someone you know who might become your girlfriend.

Then, the woman Kano san called Mayo san started talking to me with a smile on her face.

“That uniform you’re wearing, does that mean you’re a student at Shinjyoke High School?”

“Yes, I am.”

“I knew it. So, do you know anything about me?”

“Erm……”

“Yuito, who is currently a second year high school student, and Mayo san, who is a second year college student, probably don’t know about each other since they didn’t attend school at the same time.”

When I was having trouble finding an answer, Kano san helped me out.

“I see. Too bad.”

“Mayo san was the student council president in high school.”

“Wow, being student council president is awesome.”

To be honest, I have no idea what kind of activities the student council does on a regular basis, but just hearing that she’s the president gives me the impression that she’s extremely awesome.

“Maybe it was some kind of connection that we met here. If you ever have any trouble in the future, I will help you.”

“Thank you very much, but it’s best if nothing happens.”

“That’s true.”

When Mayo san and I were talking about this, Kano san was staring at me with blank eyes. No, we were just having a normal conversation.

“By the way, I just received a call that one of the boys who was scheduled to participate in today’s group date suddenly couldn’t come. Do you know anyone who might be willing to join, Kano?”

“I’ll try to talk to him, but I don’t think he’ll be able to make it.”

“I see, I guess it would be reckless to look for someone on the day of the party and right before it starts.”

I heard from Kano san earlier that it’s a three-on-three group date, so if there aren’t many boys, the balance will be bad. Well, to be honest, it has nothing to do with me, who wasn’t even a participant.

“…Ah, that’s right. If there are no convenient issues, how about asking this kid to participate?”

“Eh, me !?”

I couldn’t help but exclaim at Mayo san’s outrageous suggestion, which I had not expected at all.
