“By the way, where do you want to go?”

“Well, I have a movie I’ve been meaning to see today, and I was wondering if you’d go with me.”

“…..That is more normal than I thought.”

When I heard the word movie, I couldn’t help but blurt out the word. To be honest, I was completely taken aback because I was prepared to be forced to deal with her in such an unreasonable manner.

“Ah, did you think that you would be taken to a love hotel?”

“T-that’s not true.”

That’s a lie, in my head I was just thinking about that possibility. Kano san seems to be able to see through my thoughts, and her expression turns into a grin.

“Heh, you’ve given it some thought, huh?”

“Let’s get on with it since we’re wasting time.”

“It can’t be helped.”

I decided to forcefully end the conversation, knowing that if I said anything else, I would be digging a grave. Especially considering that she didn’t pursue me, Kano san must have been satisfied with making fun of me.

We then rode to the shopping mall, which had become a familiar place for us. She parked her bikes in the parking lot and started walking toward the movie theater.

“Speaking of which, what movie are you planning on watching today?”

“I want to see [Locked in the Swallow,] which has been doing commercials on TV a lot lately.”

“Oh, it’s really popular at school right now.”

“Yeah, I’ve been curious about it for a long time because all of my friends have seen it and said it was good.”

Locked in the Swallow is a road movie in which the main character, a high school boy, travels around Japan with the heroine, a college girl, to quell disasters.

Since this movie is directed by the same director who directed [Your Name] and [Weather Girl] both of which were very popular among young people some years ago, my expectations were quite high even before I saw it. Incidentally, there are also romantic elements in the movie, so many couples go to see this movie together.

“Well, let’s buy popcorn with half caramel and half salt.”

“Yeah, let’s do that.”

We bought our movie tickets from the ticket machine and went to the concession stand to buy juice and popcorn. We then went inside the movie theater and slowly sat down on our reserved seats.

“I knew there were couples all around us.”

“Don’t we look like a couple to those people?”

Kano san heard my murmur and started to say something like that. I was embarrassed and denied it to cover up my embarrassment.

“If anything, I feel more like a younger brother being manipulated by his naughty older sister.”

“Muu, don’t be so boring.”

Kano san said that with a slightly sullen look on her face. I’m afraid of what will happen if she lose her temper too much, so I hastily apologize.

“No, I just wanted to say that we’re so close that we look like real siblings, and I’m not denying that we look like a couple at all.”

“I see. Well, I’ll just leave it at that.”

I’m relieved to hear that she’s in a better mood now. After watching previews and commercials for a while, the cinema went dark and the feature film began.

The story begins with the hero, who lives in Hakata, meeting the heroine, a college girl, and from the beginning to the middle of the film, they go to Itsukushima Shrine in Hiroshima, Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto, and Atsuta Shrine in Nagoya to appease their disasters.

The story is lighthearted up to that point, but takes a dark turn when tragedy strikes the heroine at the Meiji Shrine in Tokyo.

The story continued to take a serious turn for a while, and I was looking at the screen with nervousness, but the movie reached its climax when the heroine was saved at Chuson-ji Temple in Hiraizumi.

“It was really good, wasn’t it?”

“Yeah, I was wondering what was going to happen in the middle of the movie, but I was relieved that it ended with a happy ending.”

We got up from our seats and were walking toward the exit while talking like that when we bumped into a familiar face.

“Oh, Onee chan and Yuito kun.”

“Eh, Suzuno and Aniki?”

“Hey, why is Yuito with Kano san?”

“Hey you two.”

My brother and I both looked surprised, but Suzuno was still going at her own pace, and Kano san was as excited as ever.

“I’m sure you’re practicing for your club activities at this time of the day, so why are you at the movie theater with Suzuno?”

“What are you talking about? There is a staff meeting today, so all club activities are closed. Did you not listen properly?”

Oh, I see. Was that why there were more people passing through the school route than usual? The homeroom teacher must have announced the staff meeting in the morning or during homeroom on the way home, but since I’ve been in a daze all day, I guess I didn’t hear it.

“If we stand here, we’re going to block traffic, so let’s just go outside the movie theater for now.”

We were both staring at each other, but finally came to our senses when we heard Kano san’s words.
