“Thanks for the food.”

I finish eating the excellent lunch that Towa san has prepared for me.

Afterwards, I try to help her clean up the dishes, but she always refuses.

I’m always too busy to do anything else.

Soon, Towa san came back from the kitchen.

“Sit down.”

“Thank you very much. Now, if you’ll excuse me.”

For some reason, Towa san sat down right next to me.

No matter how small the room is, there’s always room for a little more space…….

Despite thinking that, I didn’t refuse.

“Hey, Towa san.”

“What can I do for you?”

“I know you’re bored.”

“I am.”

It was my first day off since meeting Towa san.

A long afternoon.

I don’t know what to do.

“Do you have any hobbies, Towa san?”

“I study cooking. And…..cleaning?”

“Isn’t that a maid’s job?”

“Maids don’t have time to enjoy hobbies. If you don’t like your job, you can’t do it.”

Towa san is a maid in her very way of life. She is the ultimate workaholic.

I wonder if she has time to relax. It makes me worry a little.

“But isn’t there anything to do now?”

“Come to think of it. I finished the cleaning and laundry in the morning, and it is indeed too early to prepare dinner. With the old mansion, it would have taken me all morning and into the night just to clean the house…….”

“It’s just the two of us, and more importantly, the rooms are tiny.”

It is a cramped one room even for two people to live in.

It must be no place for a maid to be.

“Okay.”

I stood up and turned on the small screen.

“Shall we play a game?”

“A game?”

“Yeah. Here.”

I take out a small game console and show it to her.

“……SNES?”

“………………………”

Hm?

I don’t think there’s that much of an age difference between me and Towa san, no matter how mature she is…….

“Um, this…do you know it? It’s called Switch…”

“I don’t know. Is it any different from the SNES?”

“No, erm…..you see….it’s like the newest model of the SNES.”

“I see.”

It was difficult to explain to someone who only knew about the SNES, so I decided to skip the useless words.

“Do you want to try it?”

“If Itsuki san says so.”

“Give it a try. You’ll be surprised.”

The evolution of Japanese games.

I started up the game.

About an hour has passed since I started the game.

Screams of anguish echoed through the small room.

“Aah !? Why do the shells fly only at me ! Ah, why do they go out of their way to hit me !? It’s terrible !”

What we are playing now is a racing game in which the national red-hatted old man is competing in a cart.

The situation, as you can see, was heated.

Towa san was so absorbed in the game that he was operating an unfamiliar controller.

“From here, go right. Then, left… Aaaah, I’m going to fall !?”

Every time she operated the cart, her body leaned to the right or left, and her silver hair swayed.

It’s kind of heartwarming and makes me happy too.

“I-I lost again. I’m in last place…”

But the world of racing is very different.

There is no mercy for beginners who haven’t played games since SNES.

“Um…shall we play an easier game?”

Maybe an RPG would be better than an action game. Or even a harmonious simulation type like Forest of Doom……

“No, I’ll do this a little more. I’ll never forgive that player who bumped into me on purpose earlier.”

She is full of energy and takes hold of the controller.

“Ahaha……Towa san, you’re surprisingly competitive, aren’t you?”

“……? I don’t think so.”

Towa san tilts her head in confusion.

“I just don’t want to run away from things that I might be able to do with effort. It’s the same with cooking, laundry, and cleaning. Even if I couldn’t do it well at first, if I kept trying, I’d eventually be able to do it. I’m not saying that hard work always pays off, but the skills I acquire through hard work never betray me. They become a sure source of nourishment.”

Towa san’s words were filled with a real sense of reality.

I wonder if she has acquired her skills as a maid by working hard, little by little.

If Towa san used to be a clumsy maid, I would like to see that.

“I see. Well then, let’s give it our best shot.”

But for now, let’s start from scratch with her, the clunky gamer.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to drag you along.”

“No, no, no. I’m having fun.”

It’s refreshing to see her into something other than being a maid……and she’s cute above all else.

“What about you, Towa san? Are you having fun?”

She is often seen frustrated by unreasonable interference, but…..

“Yes, very much…..”

She gave me a sparkling smile.
