First New Adventurer Training
During that break, Ryu was approached by a group of girls sitting next to me.
[Hey you, do you know the Guild Master?]
[Well, recently. Who are you?]
[I’m Sally. I’m a swordsman.]
The girl who introduced herself as Sally grabbed a sword that was propped up on the side of the desk and showed it to Ryu.
[This is Megu. That one over there is Naomi.]
[ [ [Nice to meet you.] ] ]
[I’m Ryuujin. Are you guys in a party?]
Megu [Yes, we just got together, but we’ve never been on a quest. What about you?]
Ryu [I’m a……solo adventurer.]
Sally [You’re not in a party?]
Ryu [I had a little party before, but I got kicked out.]
Megu [Eh～kicked out?! What do you mean? Were you kicked for being too incompetent?!]
Naomi [Hey !]
Ryu [No, she’s right.]
Sally [Oh, so now you’re taking the training and studying again.]
Naomi [But you are gonna be an instructor, right? Don’t you have a long experience?]
Ryu [I did three years picking medicinal herbs, because that’s all I could do because my level was so low.]

[Why, you’re a trash adventurer who has been doing it for three years and can only pick medicinal herbs !]

The man suddenly called out from behind.
Man [Don’t act so bossy just because you know the Guild Master, you bum with no real ability !]
Sally [Who the hell are you !?]
Man [The name’s Gavin. I’m a warrior, nice to meet you !]
Ryu got up from his seat as Catherine called him, but Gavin was seated there and was talking to the girls.
Gavin smiled at Sally and the other girls. He seems to be taking interest in the girls.

Ryu was asked to be the instructor for the next hour. He was asked to explain what he knew about medicinal herbs.
Ryu has the memory of his previous past life—his life on Earth/Japan—intact. He had some experience of being in a position of authority at work, so he wasn’t nervous when he was asked to speak in front of others.

The class on gathering medicinal herbs would be instructive for the complete beginners, but boring for those who have already completed a certain number of requests (quests). Therefore, Ryu decided to begin by telling the experienced ones that they could sleep in.
Ryu begins his explanation by showing the actual medicinal herbs. There were some herbs left in the subspace storage that had been stored and forgotten.
He explained the different types of medicinal herbs, where they grow, and how to distinguish between medicinal herbs and poisonous herbs that are similar to medicinal herbs. Beasts and demons that may appear near medicinal herbs. There was a surprisingly large amount to talk about.
After he finished talking about everything, he decided to put the medicinal herbs on the table for them to look at freely, and in the meantime, Ryu left the table for a while.
He went into the forest to collect some poisonous herbs that were difficult to distinguish from medicinal herbs. He knew exactly where they grew. He had not been going to collect medicinal herbs much recently, but they were still growing in the same places.
When Ryu returned, he collected all the medicinal herbs on the table, mixed them with the poisonous herbs he had collected, and scattered them on the table again.
He then had the participants practice sorting the medicinal herbs by type and said that if they passed the test, the class would be over.
When the trio of Sally, Megu, and Naomi tried their hand at sorting, Gavin came shuffling out and said that Sally and the others had made a mistake in their sorting. Sally and Naomi corrected Gavin’s answer, but the result was that the answer was wrong, and Gavin was frowned upon by Sally and Naomi.
Gavin [In the first place, picking medicinal herbs is a job for small fry, because good adventurers don’t need to do it !]
But the participants looked at him with funny eyes.
By the way, Sally and the others were correct in their initial sorting. Gavin was dozing during the class, but Sally and the others were listening to Tyu’s class attentively, so it was no surprise.
Gavin was glaring at Ryu for pointing out his mistake, which Ryu thought was a form of resentment.

The next lesson was practical swordsmanship.
It was explained that swordsmanship is not something that can be acquired in a few days of training, so those willing to do so may participate in ongoing training and are free to train on their own when the training hall is free.
The guild now has an instructor on staff, and he will be available for consultation when he is free. This is a system that has never existed in the Mimru Adventurers’ Guild before.
The instructor was an elderly man with a cane. One of his legs seemed to be prosthetic. He held the cane with one hand and a sword with the other. It was a practical class, and he seemed to be teaching with the sword himself. He may not be able to use footwork, but one hand is probably enough for a beginner.
The man introduced himself as Reynard. He must have been a great swordsman in the past.
At that moment, Ryu heard a whispering voice from one of the participants.
[Isn’t that the Sword Saint Reynard?!]
[He’s alive…!]
He was a famous person, Ryu thought.
Unbeknownst to Ryu, Reynard was once a master swordsman who had lost one of his legs in a battle and had retired.
Reynard was actually an acquaintance of Catherine’s, who asked him to be the instructor.
Reynard [First of all, I’m going to make sure that you are at least capable of doing this as an adventurer. All of you take your wooden swords and come at me one at a time.]
Some of the participants did not use swords. Some of them use fighting techniques, mainly fists and kicks, while others, such as wizards, do not use swords in the first place.
But you never know what will happen in the dungeon. Even wizards are forced to fight with swords and knives in some cases. It was Reynard’s policy that it was better to learn at least swordsmanship.
Reynard would have the participants take turns striking at him, and he would catch them with his wooden sword, or they would be swatted away. No matter how sharp the strikes were, Reynard handled them effortlessly without moving an inch.
However, some participants are mischievous. Some of them intentionally attacked with feints or odd moves. Even so, Reynard was unfazed and handled everything with ease. Not only that, but he would also fight back and show them a little pain.
Gavin was one of those mischievous boys.
As usual, he wanted to show off his strength in front of the girls.
While the others were swinging their swords in a normal manner, Gavin suddenly launched a “thrust” at Reynard. He was probably trying to make a quibble that this was possible, since he had not been instructed to attack in any way.
However, with just the slightest touch of his sword, Reynard deviated from the path of the thrust and returned the thrust to Gavin’s chest.
Reynard hardly seemed to move at all, but Gavin’s thrust missed and was countered by Reynard’s.
Gavin fell on his buttocks and had to hold his chest in pain. Gavin was wearing a metal breastplate, but it was dented where he was poked by the wooden sword. It looked like he was in a lot of pain.
[Gavin did something stupid and was made to yell ‘gyaahin’.]
In his previous life, Ryu was a middle-aged man, so he sometimes muttered boring dad jokes. Usually, he is not taken seriously.
This time, however, Naomi, who happened to be standing by him, was struck by what hit the nail on the head and burst out laughing. Naomi sits up, desperately trying to hold back her laughter.
Actually, Ryu had no intention of participating in the sword practice, but Naomi’s fussing was so noticeable that Reynard found him.
Reynard [Are you Ryuujin? I hear you’re pretty strong, Catherine told me herself. I’d like to see your strength, hit me and show me.]
Reynard beckons to him.
Having no choice, Ryu stood in front of Reynard and held up a wooden sword.
