The snow-covered slopes glistened white. The four of us rented ski equipment at a rental shop and changed into our ski wear.

Hina looked a little nervous as she put on her skis and stood on the snow with awkward steps.

“It feels weird…”

Hina looked up at me anxiously. Her eyes were filled with expectation and a little anxiety.

“Everyone feels that way at first. There’s no need to rush, just take it slow.”

I stood next to Hina and helped her keep her balance.

Takaki and Nishihara were already heading for the lift.

“Hikaru, Matsumura-san! Can we go ahead?”

Takaki waved energetically.

“Yeah, be careful!”

When I said that, Mukai replied, “Okay!” and rode the lift with Nishihara.

They seemed to be heading for the intermediate course.

Hina and I headed for the gentle beginner’s course at the edge of the slope. It was a safe place where small children were learning to ski.

“First, let’s practice standing with the skis on.”

I taught Hina the correct way to put on the skis.

Hina watched my movements seriously, checking each step one by one.

“Like this? Put my feet here…”

Hina almost lost her balance at first, but when I gently supported her, she was able to stand up immediately.

“Yes, I did it! It’s surprisingly easy to stand up!”

Hina smiled happily. Seeing her smile, I felt relieved.

Next, we practiced stopping in a V-shape. This is one of the basics of skiing, but it’s quite difficult.

“Like this, point your toes inward and bend your knees…”

I showed her how to do it, and Hina tried to do the same.

However, her body didn’t seem to move as she wanted it to.

“Ugh… My body won’t listen to me…”

Hina muttered, looking a little troubled.

She almost fell several times, and each time I hurriedly caught her.

Each time, Hina’s body touched mine, making my heart race.

“Are you okay? There’s no need to rush, take your time.”

I gently took Hina’s hand and moved my body with hers to form a V shape.

Hina’s small hand fit perfectly in mine.

The warmth of her hand slowly spread through my heart.

“Thank you, Hikaru. I could never have done it alone.”

Hina looked up at my face and smiled brightly.

Her smile warmed my heart.

Despite nearly falling multiple times, Hina continued practicing without giving up.

Occasionally, she would fall spectacularly and end up covered in snow, but each time, she would laugh brightly, “Ahaha!” and try to get up immediately.

I truly admire her positive attitude.

“Hey, Hikaru! Want to try skiing a little?”

Hina suggested with sparkling eyes.

We moved to a slightly sloped area, and I stood next to Hina.

“Don’t push yourself too hard. If you get scared, just let me know.”

When I said that, Hina nodded energetically and said, “Okay!”

“Alright, here I go!”

Hina slowly began to slide down the slope. At first, her body swayed a little, but when I called out, “Keep your eyes forward!” she quickly regained her balance.

And then, she continued to slide down the gentle slope, little by little.

“Wow! I did it!”

Hina stopped in the middle of the slope and turned around with a joyful expression. Her smile was the brightest I had ever seen. She looked like a child riding a bicycle for the first time.

“That’s amazing, Hina!”

I couldn’t help but shout out loud. I was as happy as if it were my own achievement that Hina had learned how to ski. We continued practicing on the beginner’s course for the entire morning.

Hina listened intently to my instructions and improved rapidly. Her movements, which had been awkward at first, were becoming more natural.

However, when she tried to attempt a slightly more difficult move, she lost her balance and was about to fall onto the snow.

“Ah!”

Hina let out a small cry. I instinctively reached out to support her body. Hina leaned against my body with the momentum of her fall.

“I’m sorry, Hikaru!”

Hina tried to get up in a hurry, but her skis got in the way and she couldn’t. I looked at her face while supporting her body firmly. Hina’s cheeks were red from the cold snow and a little embarrassment.

“It’s okay. You don’t have to push yourself.”

When I said that, Hina nodded slightly in my arms. We stayed like that for a while, just holding each other. All we could hear were the voices of the skiers around us and the sound of the snow falling. On the cold slope, Hina’s warmth slowly permeated my heart.

“Fufu. I guess I’m relying on you too much, Hikaru.”

Hina buried her face in my chest and chuckled.

“Don’t worry about it. You can always rely on me when you’re in trouble.”

When I said that, Hina slowly lifted her face. Her eyes shone with trust in me and genuine affection.

“Yes. Thank you, Hikaru.”

Hina left my arms and stood on the snow again. Her expression seemed a little more confident than before.

“Hey, Hikaru. I’m getting hungry. Shall we have lunch?”

Hina looked at her watch and said. The delicious smell wafting from the restaurant on the ski slope was tempting us.

“Yeah, it’s about time. Let’s do that.”

When I said that, Hina nodded happily.
