Early May. A month has passed since I moved to Tokyo, and I have become quite accustomed to high school life. These are the golden days given to those who have worked hard in a new environment, whether they are students or working adults. In other words, it is the Golden Week.

“Haa…what a long holiday, dang it ! For me, it’s just another day of hell !”

Wada spits out his gloomy feelings, which are the exact opposite of the days of hope that begin tomorrow, while pounding on the desk with both fists. If it had not been lunchtime and the classroom was not noisy, people would have been looking at him to see what was going on.

“Is it really that hard, practicing with the basketball team?”

“It’s not that hard. It’s literally every day that I practice like I’m puking up blood. I can’t sleep at night when I think of the promised five days of despair that await me.”

“As expected from a prestigious basketball club. Good luck !”

While stuffing my mouth with fried chicken, I send a small cheer to the highly anticipated first year student, the Ace. He’s complaining about something, but since it’s about this guy, he’ll probably get through it with a blank face. In fact, it seems like it will provoke the seniors who are already acting up.

“You jerk ! You’re just saying that because it’s someone else’s problem……rather, how about you, Itsuki? Aren’t you going back to your parents’ house during this holiday?”

“I want to, but I’m not going home. I mean, my grandpa told me not to come back.”

I’m worried about leaving my old man alone, who is over 80 years old, even though he’s an active hunter, so when I told him that I was coming back to see him the other day, he yelled at me, [Don’t treat me like an old man !]

[Don’t worry about me. You should have lots of fun with Kanna chan and your friends and make memories. You can tell me about them next time.]

I had no choice but to agreed. But, as expected, I plan to return home during the summer vacation, so I’ll make it a surprise homecoming without saying anything then.

“I see. So, in other words, Itsuki, who is a go home club member, will spend a lonely, gray Golden Week all by himself.”

“……Yeah, that’s right.”

Wada regains his energy when he learns of my situation.

I can’t say it even if I wanted to. The fact that my house is actually a hangout place for the most beautiful girls in the school, including Kanna.

And not just once or twice. Since Kanna, Asakura, and Sasatsuki happened to get together and had a mysterious discussion, they have been coming to my house every day, eating dinner together, and although they don’t stay the night, they stay until late.

If it became known that I was in such a state, my life would be over at that moment.

“Don’t be too lazy, okay? If you don’t move your body once in a while, you’ll get fat in no time.”

“Right. I’ll try to move my body by running in moderation.”

“How about joining the track club? I think it would be perfect for Itsuki because he can enjoy moderate exercise and a sense of tension.”

Suddenly, a husky, clear voice interrupted the conversation between the two of us. I don’t even need to confirm who it is.

“I’ve told you many times that I’m not going to join the club. Just give it up, Asakura.”

“I’ve told you many times that I’m not a quitter, haven’t I? I would be happy if you would just nod your head for once.”

While saying this, Asakura has a bold smile on her lips. Her smile suddenly causes a buzz in the classroom, but to me, the beautiful woman in front of me is like a succubus who tempts me with her sweet scent and lures me into a bottomless pit the moment I take her hand. This is different from Wada, who stretches out the bottom of his nose to reveal his goofy face.

“Even if you offered me a lot of money, my answer would not change. I’m an amateur, and joining a track team full of national-level athletes would only be a hindrance to you guys. We’ve talked about this more than once, haven’t we?”

“Well, don’t you understand that I’m a girl who forgets within three steps of running? Besides, this is like a greeting between us, isn’t it? Don’t criticize me. I’ll cry.”

“That’s right. Your greeting included that.”

I waved my hand firmly, telling her to leave as soon as she was done.

In the first place, we all decided not to talk to each other too much in the school because it would cause trouble, so I want her to stop brazenly breaking that. Even Kanna is trying her best.

“Itsuki is still as hard as ever. But there will come a time when that bashful attitude will change, right?”

“Unfortunately, that day will never come. I’m not some heroine from manga.”

“Fufu. I’m looking forward to seeing how long you can keep that determination.”

Well then, Asakura said with a wink that made her look like an idol as she walked out of the classroom. After letting out a heavy sigh and muttering to myself, I put my chopsticks on the remaining side dishes in my bento box.

“Hey, Itsuki. Me and you are best friends, right?”

“……What the heck, that’s so random. I don’t know if we’re best friends, but I consider you an important friend, y’know?”

“Right. Then tell me. Since when did you and Asakura Nao become friendly !? Did you get tired of Hanazono Kanna and even tried to seduce Asakura !? What exactly did you do !?”

Wada asked with an earnest look on his face as if he was shedding tears of blood while grabbing me by the shoulders. He made it sound like I was a womanizer, but that was a complete misunderstanding.

“I don’t think I did anything special. We just started talking when I realized. That’s what being friends is all about, isn’t it?”

If I had to say anything, I would say that I just tried to give her a foot care massage. I’m here now because she liked it, but if I had made a mistake, I wouldn’t be sitting in this seat. Well, I’m not gonna tell him this story because it would only add fuel to the fire.

“You’re right. It is not so difficult to become friends. But that was when the other person wasn’t Hanazono Kanna or Asakura Nao ! I mean, if it were easy to make friends with girls, I wouldn’t be miserable on Christmas and Valentine’s Day !”

Although he laments like this, this friend is by no means bad looking. Rather, it is the opposite. He has a fearless face and a firm body trained by the hard training of the basketball team, so unlike me, a country bumpkin he should be able to find a girlfriend or two in no time.

“……..I think you’d better fix that kind of behavior first, don’t you?”

The negative points more than compensate for these additional points. I pointed this out because I think people are avoiding him because of his pleasant personality, but I personally want Wada to stay the same. Because it’s fun.

“Haa… Well, that’s fine. There’s no winter that won’t end. Even if it’s a blizzard now, spring will come someday and the cherry blossoms will bloom !”

“I like that positive attitude of Wada.”

“—Is it possible that Itsuki x Wada are going to start?”

The interrupter appears again in the middle of a silly conversation. I would like you to speak in a quiet voice and refrain from making statements that will only cause misunderstandings. Also, I’m not always on the lookout, so I can’t respond to a surprise attack.

“Don’t worry. A new series like that won’t start even if the world turns upside down.”

“I see. So Wada x Itsuki…..?”

“All right, let’s get away from the line first. Or do you have something to do, Sasatsuki?”

I asked Sasatsuki, who was sulking and puffing out her cheeks for some reason, shrugging her shoulders. Wada, who is sitting in front of me, freezes in surprise at Sasatsuki’s sudden appearance, but I try not to worry about it.

“? I don’t have anything in particular to do. Or is Itsuki the type of guy who needs a reason to talk to his friends?”

Sasatsuki asks me with a sad look on her face, and a sigh escapes from my mouth. It’s true that a friend doesn’t need a reason to talk to you, but now Sasatsuki is like a puppy that wants you to stand up and talk to it. I suppress the urge to pat her on the head that wells up in me, using what little reason I have left.

“What’s wrong, Itsuki? You’re clenching your teeth, does your stomach hurt?”

“……I’m fine, no problem.”

“Fufufu. I’ll let you know that the story is quite old. And I’m Itsuki’s best friend, so is that okay?”

“I have no comment on that.”

If I answer this question, there will definitely be a fight. It’s the kind of fight where blood will be washed with blood and a bad end is guaranteed. The best way to escape is to run away as far as possible.

“Hmm…I guess  Hanazono Kanna is the strongest at the moment. But I won’t lose.”

“What in the world are you fighting against?”

Sasatsuki quickly disappeared from the classroom and left behind some disturbing words that could be interpreted as a declaration of war. Anyway, why can’t Asakura and Sasatsuki keep their promises? I can’t believe they’re seriously trying to ruin my peaceful high school life.
