Unlike yesterday, my second day of high school life went off without a hitch.

It was a little depressing that students from other classes came to peek at me during breaks and when I was having lunch with Wada, but other than that, it was a pretty normal day.

“Are you going home again today, Itsuki? Aren’t you going to observe club activities or something?”

“I’m planning to. I have no intention of joining any club activities at the moment. Well, it’s true that I can’t go in even if I don’t want to because I’ve been stopped from doing so.”

Before I came to Tokyo, I was told by my grandfather and Katsuragi sensei some harsh comments. That was [Never join any club activities.] When I asked them why, they wouldn’t tell me. I don’t understand.

“So I’m going home today. I’m sorry.”

“There’s no need to apologize. Even if you were to go visit, I’m already a member of the basketball team, so I can’t go with you.”

“Good luck, ace freshman.”

“Leave it to me ! I’ll lead this school to the national championship !”

Wada smiles with a cheerful smile as he says that. Wada’s words were baseless. But there was a mysterious power there that made it seem as if this man could really do it.

“It’s about time I go. Don’t go into the fountain today.”

“If you do it two days in a row, it’s dangerous……”

Also, that was something I had no choice but to do because Kanna dropped her smartphone into a fountain. I would never do that if I had nothing to do. Before he could excuse himself, Wada slung his bag over his shoulder and dashed out of the classroom.

“He’s like a typhoon…….”

I let out an unintentional chuckle as I get up and leave the classroom.

Let’s stop at the supermarket today before heading home. Although I receive a certain amount of money from my overseas business for living expenses, it’s not enough to pay for the rest of my life.

“I should save money by cooking for myself. But it’s a hassle to cook for one person……”

I also feel lonely because I don’t have anyone to eat with me or tell me how delicious it is. Especially since there was a part of me that was working hard because I wanted grandpa to be happy.

“Haa…..I feel sorry for myself.”

I scoff to myself at the fact that I am already getting homesick even though it has been less than a week since I started my new life. But I know in my head that this is only the beginning and that once I adjust to the environment, I will stop worrying about it.

I took a deep breath to compose myself, do some quick shopping, and head home. My grandfather used to say that when you feel down, you should eat a good meal, take a bath, and go to bed early.

True to the words of my family back home, I feel strangely invigorated after eating dinner and soaking in a warm bathtub. Maybe I’m just a simpleton.

“Okay. What shall I do before going to bed? Watch TV or something?”

Unlike the countryside, there is plenty of entertainment here. But in other words, there are so many things to do that I don’t know what to do. Just as I was about to do some quiet study, the doorbell rang to announce the arrival of a visitor.

“Who is it at this hour?”

The time is now just after 9pm. There was no package sent to me, so the only thing I could think of was some kind of solicitation. Katsuragi sensei also said, [Be careful, because scammers sometimes come to your house.]

I could have used the answering machine, but fortunately, the intercom in this house is equipped with a camera. So I can see who is visiting without having to open the door.

“Who in the world came to visit—Kanna?”

The person on the monitor in the room was my childhood friend dressed in plain clothes. For some reason, in her hand was a large carrying case that seemed to be for travel. I wondered if she had dropped by on her way home from work, when the chime rang again. It didn’t happen once or twice. It’s at the level where there’s another ping before the ping pong ping.

“Ah—geez ! All right, wait a minute !”

I rush to the front door to stop the barrage, which is more than impatient, it’s terrifying. When I opened the door, I found a very upset-looking Kanna standing there with her cheeks puffed out.

“Hey, Jinpei kun. Why didn’t you open the door right away? I don’t think so, but you weren’t pretending to be out, were you?”

“Hahaha. No way ! That can’t be true. Besides, good evening, Kanna. What are you doing here at this hour?”

“Good evening, Jinpei kun. Did you forget something? Yesterday, I told you to wait while trembling, right? That’s what I came here to do.”

Kanna smiles fearlessly. I can’t even see what this childhood friend of mine is thinking, let alone see what she’s talking about. Ignoring my state of mind, Kanna stuck out her tongue and threw an unexpected bombshell while smiling cutely.

“Jinpei kun, I’ve decided to start living here from today !”

“Okay, I understand. Turn around and go home now.”

Needless to say, I responded immediately.
