The test is over, so it’s time for a break that I haven’t had in a while.
Today I’m not reading a manga, but a light novel I borrowed from Yoshida kun.
“Tsukasa-kun, are you reading a novel today? That’s unusual.”
“I borrowed it from Yoshida.”
“Oh, is it a romance story?”
“The main character is a seemingly dull high school student, but his father is a world karate champion and his mother is a genius scientist with an IQ of 300. From my point of view, it’s a hell of a story.”
“It’s a little too much for me.”
“The writing is professional and readable, and there are glimpses of education, but at times it feels like something a kindergartener would come up with…”
What is a world champion anyway? What is an IQ of 300?
“Well, as in a romantic comedy, you’ll be on the edge of your seat as multiple girls engage in psychological warfare over a single guy.”
“I don’t think that’s how you’re supposed to enjoy it.”
“The main character helps a girl who is being harassed by a gangster on the street, so more girls will fall in love with him. This is the fifth girl that has fallen in love with him.”
“That easy !?”
“When he saves a girl from a thug, he says a lot of things, but at the end of the day, it’s all about violence.”
“Was it a battle?”
“But various things happen and it doesn’t become a police matter, so it’s an interesting story of good versus evil.”
“I think you’re reading it wrong.”
“But it’s strange that the main character gets into trouble like this. He should’ve been exorcised or something.”
“Tsukasa kun, let’s go to a big shrine together on our next day off.”
“What, is there a festival?”
I don’t want to eat food from the open-air market.
“We’ll talk about the exorcism with Kokoa chan later. But first, I have a favor to ask of you.”
“What is it?”
‘I’d like you to be a member of the sports festival committee with us.”
“A member of the sports festival committee?”
“Yeah, I’m gonna be on it, too, but they need three people from each class.”
“Why don’t you just have the others do it?”
“But you know, the kids in the sports club can’t do it. Because they will have less time for club activities.”
“We’re a school of higher education, aren’t we? Are the teachers here that stupid….”
“Well, the truth is, they say that if you leave it to the sports kids, they’ll get too passionate and get into trouble.”
“I can understand that.”
“By the way, the other one is Serena.”
“I knew it.”
“Of course.”
There’s no way that woman wouldn’t get her head in on something involving Mei.
“But if I get involved, I might mess things up, are you sure?”
“We’ll follow up on it, and if that doesn’t work, whatever.”
“Well, Mei’s a bit like that, isn’t she?”
I guess you could say she’s a bit laidback.
“Generally, when Serena gets involved, I’ve given up on a lot of things.”
“There’s no way that woman would stay quiet.”
“So, I thought if I put Tsukasa kun in her way, it would neutralize the situation nicely.”
“The negative and the positive combined will only be a big negative.”
“For sure, ahaha…”
“I don’t think it’s possible, but for Mei’s sake, I’ll make an effort.”
“Ehehe, that’s good. Thanks, Tsukasa kun.”
“But the sports festival…what a hassle.”
“It can’t be helped. Unlike the school festival, it’s a one-day event.”
That’s what they say, though.
“You know what a sports festival is? It’s when the class creates a sense of unity, celebrates when they win, and praises each other’s efforts when they lose, and then at the end they all take a group photo wearing matching T-shirts, right? Which makes me sick.”
“It’s not entirely wrong, but it’s not right either.”
“Which is it?”
I hope nothing goes wrong.
