Even during summer vacation, those who are involved in club activities have to go to school.

Even for those who do not, there are times when they have to attend school regardless of long holidays.

I am one of them.

Today, the members of the public morals committee have to go to school to prepare for the open school that will be held during the summer vacation, and they are heading to school in their uniforms from this morning.

It is as hot as ever, and I think it is really amazing that people are doing club activities in such a situation.

Since I arrived at school later than usual, it was cool on the train, but the heat was immense the moment I stepped outside.

After walking briskly under the blazing sun and arriving at the school, we headed to the classroom where we were to assemble and cool off in front of the fan in the air-conditioned room.

“Good morning, Mitsui kun.”

As I was cooling off, Kase Azusa, a member of the public morals committee in the same class, spoke to me.

“Good morning. Kase, you wanna cool off, too?””

“Girls don’t cool off like that in public.”

Kase explained as she raised her index finger.

“No one cares.”

‘That’s not the point…”

Kase looks puzzled.

There are times when people think she’s a bad person.

“You two are in high spirits this morning.”

While we were talking, Nezuka Renta, a member of the public morals committee in Hananoi’s class, also joined in the conversation.

She was the one who came to talk to Hananoi when she wasn’t working as a committee member.

She is still a bit intimidated by Hananoi because of her timid nature.

“Good morning, Nezuka. If you said that, you must be tired.”

“I can understand why you’re tired. It’s hard to come to a hot school, and moreover, it’s the middle of summer vacation.”

“Hahaha. But everyone who has club activities comes here.”

“Club activities are something you do of your own volition. Ours is forced labor.”

Kase, who lost at rock-paper-scissors-scissors and became a member of the committee like me, was apparently not motivated by today’s work.

“So why don’t you think about what you’re gonna do after we’re done?”

Then Hananoi suddenly interrupted us.

Kase and I are surprised, and Nezuka screams.

“G-good morning. You scared me…”

“I didn’t mean to. I’m sorry.”

“N-no  ! I’m the one who’s sorry !”

There is no need for Kase to apologize, but Hananoi’s power makes the apology reflexive.

I understand that the flamboyant looking Hananoi looks scary, but it seems excessive.

Before I know it, Nezuka has left the place….

“I see you’re not even late.”

I speak, taking over for Kase, who is not used to Hananoi.

“…Well, rather than being at home.”

Hananoi’s house has a lot going on.

Even more so when it comes to long holidays.

We continued our small talk without going into too much depth.

When the time came, the advisor of the committee and the chairman of the public morals committee arrived and began to explain today’s work.

They explained that they would be carrying equipment to the gymnasium and guiding the visiting junior high school students.

“Guiding…is that something students are supposed to do?”

“Well, the teachers are busy, aren’t they?”

When I complain in a whisper, Kase also says in a whisper.

It is true that school teachers are also advisors, etc., and I hear that they are not paid for such work. Perhaps they are eager to use those who are available.

“At any rate, today we’re gonna get our supplies ready, and the first graders will head to the gymnasium.”

The advisor assigns work to each grade.

The first-year public morals committee members are assigned jobs in the gymnasium.

We leave the classroom and head for the gymnasium.

“Hmm? It’s Ken.”

On the way, I meet Rikuto in the hallway leading to the gym.

Rikuto says something to the other students in the club and comes toward me.

The other students walked toward the cafeteria.

“Oh ! Ken, and Kase san !”

“You’re so energetic that it’s painfully hot.”

“G- good morning ! Tominaga kun !”

Kase’s voice trails off.

“? Oh, morning, Kase san.”

Rikuto returns the greeting, tilting his head at Kase’s reaction.

Kase’s face relaxes a little, perhaps because she is happy to hear that.

(Oh? What’s this?)

In other words, that’s what it means.

“So? Why are Ken and the others here?”

The insensitive Rikuto didn’t seem to notice.

It was so obvious.

But since it’s not something I have to say out loud, I just talk to him normally.

“I’m on the public morals committee. Are you involved in club activities?”

Rikuto is a member of the badminton club.

He lamented that summer practice was hell.

“Well, yeah. I can’t even open the windows, so it’s like a sauna. You guys should be careful about heat stroke. Here.”

Rikuto then gave me a tablet containing salt.

“Here you go, Kase san.”

“T-thank you ! I’ll take good care of it !”

“No, eat it quickly !?”

For some reason, Kase has the face of a maiden in love when she’s interacting with Rikuto, and she looks at him with lukewarm eyes.

“I’m gonna go now. See you later, you two.”

Rikuto ran toward the cafeteria.

Kase stares at his back.

“…Do you like Rikuto?”

“Huh !? W-what do you mean !?”

I wonder if she’s trying to hide it with that.

Anyone who sees it can tell.

The only one who doesn’t notice is probably Rikuto.

“…Well, do your best.”

“…..Mitsui, you have no sense of delicacy, do you? You won’t be popular.”

“…..Is that so?”

As someone who knew that Rikuto was attracted to Wado, the atmosphere was a bit awkward.

(Well, it depends on the person.)

I entered the gym without saying anything.
