Two weeks had passed since I was hospitalized after being hit by a car, and I was lying down in my bedroom at home after being safely discharged from the hospital.
Needless to say, it is difficult to live with my right leg in a cast, but it is still a much more relaxing space than the hospital.
“Phew……. I’m tired…….”
The reason I was so tired that I couldn’t help but say these words when I finally returned to the space where I could relax was not only because I was hospitalized after being hit by a car, but also because of the breakup with Sumika.
I suffered physical damage from being hit by a car and mental damage from being dumped by Sumika.
I had originally planned to spend Golden Week with her, but I didn’t expect to spend all of it in the hospital……
Well, I also didn’t expect that the person I would be spending Golden Week with would be Kohime.
While I was in the hospital, Kohime came to visit me every day.
When she told me she waould visit me everyday, I told her not to, but she insisted, so I set a time limit of one hour each day for her to visit me.
Due to the time limit, I wasn’t able to have a deep conversation with Kohime, and it was just small talk.
I think I’ve lost some of the awkwardness that comes with talking to someone face to face, though.
Even so, Kohime is just too cute.
You may be wondering what I was talking about since I just broke up with Sumika, but Kohime’s cute smile really touched my heart, which was deeply hurt when Sumika, who I loved, threw harsh words at me and dumped me.
She has a petite body, beautiful long black hair, a small face and a straight nose, and is so cute that you can’t help but think that she would look great in Japanese clothes. I think Kohime is by far the cutest girl my age.
I can only say that it is truly thanks to God that I became friends with Kohime, whom I would never have had the chance to get to know if I lived a normal life.
While I was thinking about this, the intercom rings and I hear my mother walk to the front door and open it.
While I was wondering if it was a delivery or something, I heard my mother’s footsteps coming up to my room and the door to my room was opened.
“Eita ! Kohime chan is here to see you !”
“Eh, Kohime?”
What does she have to do to come all the way to my house?
I mean, how does she know where I live?
“Yes. Also, her father is here. He wants to thank you and apologize to Eita.”
“Eh, her father too…..?”
……I see, so that’s what this is about.
If the reason is to thank and apologize to me for saving his daughter, then it makes sense why her father came to my house with me and why she knows the location of the house I live in.
My mother called me over, and I hurried–although I was wearing a cast, so I was pretty slow–to the front door as quickly as I could.
“
Sorry to keep you wai—…..ting.”
When I arrived at the entrance, I found Kohime and a man who appeared to be her father standing side by side, but I was speechless because her father was a stronger-looking man than I had expected.
This strong-looking man is Kohime’s father? He looks like a yakuza–an underworld figurehead. At the very least, I feel that he should not wear a kimono, because it’s scary.
I can’t believe his daughter is such a slender and dainty Kohime.
“F-forgive me. My father, his face is a little bit scary, so I had asked him not to visit you because I thought you might be surprised if you saw him while in the hospital…..”
I was a bit skeptical about the word [a little bit] but I decided not to pry about it and continued the conversation.
“I-it’s not like that. He seems like a kind father.”
When I say that with such consideration, my mother bursts into laughter.
“Yes. He is actually a very kind father.”
“My name is Taketsugu, Kohime’s father. I really can’t thank Eita-kun enough. Thank you. And I apologize !”
“Hey, w-wait a minute, Father !?”
Kokorohime’s father, Taketsugu san, thanked me and apologized, and then suddenly started kneeling on the spot.
The sight of Taketsugu san, who has a tough face and speaks like someone from the underworld, kneeling on the ground, is nothing short of bizarre.
“I know it may be a nuisance for you when I kneel down, but I still have to thank you. My wife passed away two years ago due to illness, and even I was in shock….but if Kohime had gone, I might not have been able to survive. Thank you very much.”
I see, as Kohime had said, she lost her mother two years ago.
I could understand why he would want to get down on his knees to me when he felt like that.
Not only did he lose his wife, but two years later he was about to lose his daughter as well.
I had never been of any use to anyone, and Sumika had called me trash, but I had never expected anyone to be so grateful to me, and I realized the impact of what I had done.
Although I was injured and made my mother worried, I’m really glad that I was able to help Kohime.
“Ma’am, I may not be able to handle something like this, but please accept this.”
“……?”
After saying that, Taketsugu san handed out a briefcase he was holding and I found a case full of bills.
