The moment Sumika threw the engagement ring, I followed its whereabouts with my eyes wide open.

My pleas not to fall into the water were not answered, and the engagement ring landed unceremoniously in the river.

Some say they spend three months’ worth of their salary to buy an engagement ring.

That engagement ring with a large diamond on it must have been quite expensive, as it was bought by the rich Taketsugu san.

The price is one thing, but the fact that the engagement ring, which is a part of the precious memory that Taketsugu san gave to Chikage san, was thrown into the river, one does not have to think to understand how irretrievable the act was.

“Hmph. I’m unhappy and Eita is trying to get happiness by giving the ring to a new girl, how can I allow such a thing–“

“What the hell are you doing !? Do you know what you’ve gotten yourself into !?”

I vented my true anger at Sumika in a loud voice that I had never uttered in my life.

It was the same when we were dating, and even after I met Sumika when we were children, I was yelling in a way that I had never uttered before.

Hearing his voice, Sumika was startled and backed up as if frightened.

She had no right to be frightened of me after she threw away my precious engagement ring.

“W-why are you so angry? It’s just a ring, right? It’s a cheap ring that costs a few thousand yen that can be bought somewhere…”

“You know it when you see it, you idiot ! That was an expensive ring with real diamonds on it ! And it was an engagement ring filled with precious memories, not a ring that should ever be thrown in the river ! Even if that ring was a cheap one, don’t ever throw someone’s belongings into the river ! !”

“What !  If you suddenly yell at me that loud, I’ll be scared ! !”

“It’s your train of thought that scares me ! ! Just reflect for a moment, you piece of shit !”

“S-shit !?”

With that said, I hurriedly started running towards the place where Sumika had thrown away the ring.

“I-I don’t know  ! !”

When Sumika saw me running towards the river, she ran away.

Originally, I would have liked to lecture Sumika a little more, but the ring might have been washed away somewhere while I was doing so.

I decided to keep my sermon to Sumika short and hurried to the spot where the ring had been thrown away.

“Eita san ! It’s dangerous, please stop !”

I heard the voice of Kohime trying to stop me, but I ignored her voice and went into the river in my school uniform.

This river runs through a residential area and is not that big, nor is it deep enough for people to drown in.

Even so, the river is about five meters deep, and finding the ring in the river is like finding needle in haystack.

Still, it was too valuable to be dismissed, and I had no choice but to look for that one-of-a-kind engagement ring.

Soon after I entered the river and began searching for the ring, Kohime followed me down to the river and urged me to stop searching for the engagement ring.

“Eita san ! Please stop ! It is reckless to search for a ring that has just been thrown in this river ! You’ll get your uniform dirty, and in the worst case scenario, you could drown !”

“Kohime chan’s right ! Come out quickly !”

It is true that the river is shallow, but there is a possibility that some parts of the river may suddenly become deep, and it is impossible to say with 100% certainty that I will not drown.

I was grateful for their concern for my safety, but I did not reply to them and continued to search the river in silence.

“Eita san ! Please stop it already ! I don’t care ! In the first place, I was the one who gave the ring to Eita san, so it was my fault ! So please stop it now !”

If I were in her shoes, I would have been the first to ask her why she kept the ring, or to express my sadness that it was gone, but she never showed any signs of worrying about those things, and she was just worried about me.

Kohime shows her usual kindness even when an abnormal situation occurs, that’s why I can’t leave her precious engagement ring as it is, and no matter how many times I’m told to stop, I refuse to stop looking for an engagement ring.

It may be an exaggeration to say this, but the engagement ring that Taketsugu san gave to Chikage san was not only worth the monetary value of the ring, but it was also filled with memories and may be worth more than my life.

If I said such a thing, Kohime would definitely reprimand me, saying, [That’s not true !]…..

“Eita san !”

“I’ll never stop no matter what you say !”

No matter how much I kept ignoring her, she kept asking me to get out of the river, so I told her that I would never stop/

“It can;t be helped. I’ll help you.”

“Eh–“

Perhaps she couldn’t stop looking for the ring that I was being told to stop, but without hesitation, it was Hanai, not Kohime, who entered the river.

“T-that’s….”

“Then me too.”

“E-even Mai chan !?”

“How can I let the girls go in there and not myself.”

“Not even you, Kento….”

“I’ll look for it too !”

I don’t understand how they had just told me to get out of the river, but in the end we were all in the river.

I couldn’t put everyone’s safety in danger, and normally I should have told them to leave the river as soon as possible, but I found it reassuring to see everyone searching for the ring together.

And my vision is gradually blurring.

Still, I could not shed a tear here.

I absolutely must find the ring.

“….Thank you, everyone.”

Thus, we all began to search for the ring that had been thrown into the river by Sumika.

Is it wrong to hope that ring isn’t find? So they can teach her of consciousness of actions. Even if they can’t accuse of thievery?
