The training field is about the size of two tennis courts, with spectator seating around it.
There, Ryuujin’s rank up test was about to begin.

Usually, beginners who just registered start from F rank. However, Ryuujin’s ability was so low that he was certified as G rank, which is even lower, by Daniel’s instruction at the time of registration.
(There is also an H rank, but it is a paper rank for those who have no real activity, only the fact that they are registered. You can receive requests even with the H rank, but only within the city. Requests that require going outside cannot be accepted.)
Ranks are awarded by the guild based on a comprehensive evaluation of a person’s contribution to the guild, and are not a clear indication of combat ability. However, there is usually such a large difference in ability that it is said that if one rank is different from the other, one can never win.
While rank is a grade that people assign on their own, the “level” indicated by “appraisal” is to some extent an objective numerical value. If the levels are different by 15, it is absolutely impossible to win, and if the levels are different by 30, there is such a gap in ability that it is a different creature.
