There is a rank system for adventurers registered with the guild. Ranks are raised according to ability and contribution, and beginners who have just registered usually start at rank F.

However, Ryu’s rank was “G”.

There is also a rank of “H” below “G,” but this is a paper registration for those who need only the fact that they are registered, and they cannot receive any requests to leave the city.

The “H” rank is rarely held by a businessman, but the “G” rank is a low grade that is rarely seen.

Ryu, for now, has to work to eat. When he was freed from slavery, the money given to him by a nobleman was robbed and stolen by a robber.

At the time, Ryu was only 12 years old, but he was sold by his parents, and he could not go back to them. He was sold because he was incompetent, and they didn’t want him, so even if he returned home, he would probably be sold again.

Ryu has to work and live by himself.

As a slave, he is guaranteed food, clothing, and shelter, but to live on his own, he has to provide for himself.

Slaves are protected by law to some extent, but those who are no longer slaves can be treated badly, even if they are tricked or abused.

Ryu, who was not yet old enough to be considered an adult, was at high risk of being disposed of in a good way, even if he was hired by someone else.

He could have gone back to slavery, which was a realistic option for an underage orphan, but he could not think of it. The fear that he might be tortured again if he became a slave came back to him. He did not know that slaves were protected by law at that time.

Therefore, Ryu chose to become an adventurer who could survive on his own.

However, he was despised and abandoned by his parents, and he understood the reason for his choice. He knew he had no talent. Considering his abilities, he could not take on too risky a job.

Therefore, Ryu began to make ends meet by taking low-paying but relatively safe jobs, such as gathering medicinal herbs.

He believes that one day he will grow up and become stronger, and will be able to take on more difficult jobs, such as those involving difficult logging……

However, despite his thoughts and efforts, three years passed with no improvement in Ryu’s level…….

When Ryu turned fifteen, his childhood friends Mark and Kate and other former classmates arrived in Mimru as adventurers.

(In this world, fifteen is the age of adulthood. And as soon as they graduate from school at fifteen, they start working and getting jobs.)

Ryu attended school until the age of eleven. He became a slave at the age of ten, but the merchant who bought him out was kind enough to allow him to continue attending school as before. (He was later bought out by Big and was no longer allowed to go to school.)

The former classmates who became adventurers formed a party called “Star of Dawn” and came to Mimru for a dungeon east of the city. (Ryu had assumed that the city of Mimru was located far from the city where he was born and raised, but it turned out to be closer than he thought.)

Mark and his friends found Ryu working as an adventurer in the city of Mimru, were happy to see him again, and invited him to join their party.

In a manner of speaking, Ryu was a little more senior to them as an adventurer, but in fact, his former classmates were much higher in level than Ryu and also had superior classes such as “swordsman,” “warrior,” and “wizard. (Having such classes suited for adventurers was probably the reason he decided to become one.)

Although he joined the party, the difference in ability between them and Ryu soon became obvious.

Until then, Ryu had only been picking medicinal herbs in the forests near a safe town. After joining the party, he began to go out with his friends to defeat demons, but instead of being able to play a prominent role, he only became a drag on the others.

Even goblins, which are relatively weak demons for beginners, were too much for even Ryu, who was below the level of an average person, to handle on his own.

In the past, Ryu had encountered goblins while picking medicinal herbs, but he could only escape with his life instead of fighting them.

However, when he is in a party, his excellent friends can defeat the demons.

However, when Ryu joined the fight, even against goblins, he had a hard time and soon became dangerous. And his friends would have to come to his rescue.

Soon Ryu’s uselessness was exposed, and he was left to carry luggage and do other menial chores.

Nevertheless, his childhood friends, Mark and the others, did not mistreat him and continued to work with him while protecting him…….

They have always been excellent members. They want to rise to a higher rank quickly, and the Guild Master has told them that they must have the ability to do so.

However, in order to do so, they needed to cut out the incompetent members. The presence of a slow-moving member in the party would make it impossible to accept more difficult requests.

Eventually, the “Dawn Star” began to take on more and more difficult requests without Ryu, and finally the party decided to fire him.
