(What was that all about?)

After that, Fuyusaki followed me from school to the station, but in the end we had nothing to talk about, and when we entered the ticket gate, she met up with her friends and left.

It was the same in the past, but I don’t know what she’s thinking.

(Stop, stop it. It’s none of my business.)

There is nothing to be gained by thinking about Fuyusaki’s thoughts, so I give up thinking about them.

While brushing my teeth, I looked in the mirror and noticed that my bangs had grown long.

It hides my eyes, and it might be rude when I talk to people.

“Hey, how long are you gonna stand there? Can you move out of my way?”

Ayaka said in her usual harsh tone as I fidgeted with my bangs.

“Okay.”

Talking to Ayaka is exhausting, so I quickly rinse out my mouth and head back to my room.

“Hey.”

Then Ayaka stopped me.

It was a bother, but ignoring her would have been even more bothersome, so I turned around.

“Did you go home with Fuyusaki today?”

I was about to say, [How do you know?], but I was talking to Ayaka.

It wouldn’t be strange if she saw us.

“Not really. She just followed me to the station without saying a word.

“…..Really?”

I’m not lying, but Ayaka has a strangely mysterious look on her face.

Is it really that much of a concern?

With those words as the last, I left the bathroom and returned to my room.

“What was that? Idiot.”

Ayaka’s complaint did not reach Kenshiro’s ears.

The next day, I had to leave the house early because I had to greet the students at the school gate in the morning as part of my duties as a member of the public morals committee.

I became a member of the public morals committee simply because I lost a game of rock-paper-scissors.

Even so, since I became a member of the public morals committee, I would not do so half-heartedly.

We were supposed to be at the gate at 8:00 a.m. When I got there five minutes before, all the first-year committee members had gathered except for me and one other person.

The reason why only first-year students are there is because each grade is on duty.

Even at 8 o’clock, no one else came and there was no point in waiting, so I started greeting them.

As I continued to greet students as they came and went, another student, Hananoi Miyu, arrived at the school at around 8:15 a.m.

“Hananoi, today is your greeting duty day.”

“I’m sorry. I forgot.”

The teacher tried to warn her, but she told a lie that anyone would understand.

She has not been here for three weeks in a row, so she must have skipped the greeting duty.

“Oh, um, Hananoi san, will you come properly next week, please?”

A boy in the same class as Hananoi, a member of the public morals committee, said timidly.

“If I remember.”

That’s like saying she’ll never come.

The boy, too, was too intimidated by Hananoi, who looked like a gal, to say anything else.

“Hananoi, come back next week for sure.”

“Huh?”

As expected, the other guys were getting in trouble, so I started to speak up.

“The others will have a hard time because you don’t do  your job. If you’re gonna be on the committee, you’d better do it right.”

Hananoi frowned and said.

“It’s not like I’m bothering you. It’s my class’s problem.”

“You’re making a nuisance to the entire public morale committee by going around. Besides, it wouldn’t be fair if you were the only one to slack off.”

“So what? It has nothing to do with me”

“Of course it’s none of your business–“

That’s when I realized.

We were arguing a little bit.

The other members of the public morale committee are also getting a little nervous.

I calmed down a little..

“…….If it’s none of your business, change to someone else. If you can’t do it, don’t do it.”

“Huh? What was that?”

Hananoi said quietly.

“You don’t even know what I’m thinking.”

With that, Hananoi left.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have interfered.”

“No. Mitsui kun is amazing. I can’t even argue with Hananoi san.”

I apologized to the boy in Hananoi’s class and to the people around him.

(This always happens when I talk to her.)

Hananoi and I have been fighting since junior high school.

We will never be able to understand each other.

In the end, Hananoi never came to the school gate, and we returned to the classroom before the chime rang.
